Modeling Mental Health Jersey City
On Saturday April 13,2024, I had the incredible opportunity to attend the "Modeling Mental Health" photography workshop hosted by the dynamic duo, Diana Ortiz (aka The Model Nurse) and Vera Melissa Photography. Held at the enchanting GrayScale Studios in Jersey City, New Jersey, co-owned by the talented @Jacklynlune.photos.
this event was a true celebration of creativity and community. From the moment I stepped into GrayScale Studios, I was greeted by a buzz of excitement and anticipation. The space was adorned with creativity, with every corner offering a new opportunity for a captivating shot. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, setting the stage for an unforgettable day of photography. The workshop featured a lineup of stunning models, including the captivating @the.model.nurse, the ethereal @morgggan, and the radiant @lay.light. With hair styled by the incredible @gracearrogante and outfits curated by the fabulous @shrugsandhisses, each model brought their unique energy and personality to every frame.
But what truly made this workshop special was the sense of camaraderie among participants. Over ten passionate photographers came together, eager to learn and collaborate. From sharing lighting techniques to offering posing tips, everyone was committed to lifting each other up and creating something beautiful together. For the first two hours, we immersed ourselves in capturing images of the models against various sets, experimenting with different lighting techniques to evoke emotion and depth. Whether it was strobes or continuous lighting, each photographer brought their own perspective to the table, resulting in a diverse array of images that truly captured the essence of the models. As the day drew to a close, I couldn't help but reflect on the invaluable experience gained and the connections forged. Not only did I walk away with a collection of stunning images, but I also gained new friends and mentors in the process. Workshops like these are more than just opportunities to sharpen our skills; they're a chance to be part of a community that inspires and uplifts us.
Throughout the day, my trusty Canon EOS R6 was my constant companion, paired with the versatile RF 28-70F2 and 70-200F2.8 lenses. And of course, I had my Canon 80D with the reliable 50mm 1.8 lens as a backup, just in case.
