30th Annual Yonkers Hudson River Fest: A Farewell to Summer

On Saturday, September 14th, I had the chance to attend and photograph the 30th edition of the Yonkers Hudson River Fest, the largest one-day festival in Westchester County. This milestone event, which started back in 1992, continues to draw crowds year after year. With perfect weather—80 degrees and sunny—it was the ideal way to celebrate the end of summer.

Running from noon to 7 PM, the festival took over the streets of Yonkers with over 140 food, arts & crafts, and merchandise vendors. There was something for everyone: from face painting and a bouncy house for kids to the No Limit Ninja Gym, Latin band battles, and even a circus!

Music filled the air, with 15 live bands playing on three stages, keeping the energy high throughout the day. One quirky highlight was the world’s shortest parade, spanning a mere 91.4 feet, but it packed in plenty of charm. Another first was the NY Baconeggandcheese cookoff, a true crowd-pleaser and a nod to the beloved NYC staple.

I stopped by for a few hours to enjoy the festival's vibrant atmosphere, taste some incredible food, and capture moments with my camera. Everywhere I turned, people were having a great time, taking in the music, activities, and overall vibe of this community-centered event.

The Yonkers Hudson River Fest once again lived up to its reputation as a family-friendly celebration, bringing together diverse crowds to say goodbye to summer in style.
